Kick Start: When You Feel Like Giving Up

This life.

This year.

This month.

This day.

This moment, is all you have.

There's one thing I know for sure: no matter how you look at it, our days on this Earth are limited. Each one of those limited days are a blessing, a gift, a miracle - breathe them in, feel the air fill your lungs, the beat of your heart against your chest. This is what it feels like to be alive.

There will be a time, and maybe you're living in it right now, when overwhelm creeps in, when your days seem too big for you to manage, when the moment fills your head with anxiety. Your heartbeat quickens, your mind full of chatter, your palms feel clammy, your stomach twists-and-turns. It's all-encompassing, too colossal for one mere human to bear. You're ready to throw in the towel, pack up and leave, chalk it up to "tried and failed", and give up. (Pair that up with a dash of guilt, shame, and wallowing and we've got ourselves a full-blown pity party.)

Acknowledge how you feel. Sink into it. Yell out, "I'm overwhelmed, I'm overwhelmed, I'm overwhelmed!"

Punch some pillows. Shout, "I don't know what the $^@^% I'm doing!" if it helps.

Then have a laugh at yourself and get back to the grind.

When you feel the fear and make the declaration to move forward, you honour yourself. Ease up on expectations, pressure, and the myth of perfection and move one small step forward. That's progress. That's momentum. You're going somewhere.

Just keep going, keep going, keep going...

Because this moment? It's all you have.

Share it, print it, save it as your new background, or simply read the words and take a big, deep breath. xx
